Areas of Piedmont Italy

PhotoInspiring landscapes far from the hustle and bustle, deep in the true Italian way of life. Superb food and wines, friendly communities and excellent climate make Piedmont the perfect choice for relocation, holiday home rental opportunities and property investment.

The area is full of activity: skiing, exploring on horseback or on foot, mountain biking or on a rented Vespa motor scooter. Visit its world famous Barolo and Barberesco vineyards and sample some of the best foods in the world in its multitude of keenly priced restaurants. This makes it the perfect place for relaxation!

The Langhe

The name comes from the Latin for tongues (lingua) as the hills jut out like tongues. The area is extraordinarily beautiful, the people are very hospitable and friendly, eating out is cheap and wine is the highest quality. It is easy to reach having three major airports close by. It is very calm and not overrun with tourism.

Roero

A much smaller area of Piedmont but very beautiful and overflowing with tastes and experiences. Its principle town is Canale. There is so much to see and do here - so don't miss the chance to visit!

Monferrato

The main town of the Monferrato is Asti. It’s a cool name as everyone has heard of it. Asti Spumanti? It’s a big town with a small town mentality, and that’s a good thing. The centre is typical Italian storia. Elaborate architecture making impressive shopping streets. There’s a huge market on Wednesdays and Saturdays. It’s in two parts – clothes etc and the lower part food and household stuff. You can buy a half kilo of Grana Padano cheese and a generator. Or a pair of Italian shoes and light bulb. Every summer they have the Sagre – a feast of food from local towns in the Monferrato.

From Asti head to Moncalvo – this is a better Tuscany. It’s not ridiculously hot in the summer and you don’t need to speak to your bank manager before buying an ice cream for the kids. Casale Monferrato is another historic town that overflows with heritage.
Then there are the towns of Acqui Terme – famous for its springs, Alessandria and Ovada. Ovada is the Alto Monferrato and very beautiful. There are three shopping outlets in Piemonte Italy.

Piemonte Lakes

Piedmont’s lakes are beautiful. They’re a little overrun with tourists for some people’s taste but then something this good isn’t going to go unnoticed. Start with Largo Orta. Santo Giulio is a very special little town. The view across the lake is wonderful and the town is vibrant with good cafes and nice places to eat. The buildings add to this Italian romance of land meeting water with a backdrop of hills and Alps. The main towns on Maggiore are Verbania, Stresa and.. take your time. A boat ride across to the islands of dei Pescatore and isola Bella is well worth it. Take a drive along the lakes edge, there are plenty of place to stop and the scenery is always great. Before you know you’ll be in the Alps and needing your passport to cross into Switzerland, if you have the desire.
